Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs Wiki

This is the Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs Wiki Manual of Style. This manual lists how all other articles should look, be created and edited. If an article does not adhere to the Manual of Style, please place the template on it, or fix it accordingly.

Article Editing

Article Titles and Headings

Article titles and headings should have the first word capitalized, along with every other word that isn't an article (example: "the", "a/an", "and").

Spelling

This is a North American English wiki, so only English (and American spellings) will be used in all articles, editing, pictures, and categories.

Lead section

The lead section of every article should start with the title of the article in bold and a short sentence related to it.

Character Article Editing

Articles about character should be ordered in the following manner:

  • Appearance
  • Personality
  • History
    • Sub-Heading: Early Life
    • Sub-Heading: Cloudy: The Series
    • Sub-Heading: Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs
    • Sub-Heading: Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2
  • Trivia
  • Gallery
  • References
  • Site Navigation (the SiteNav navbox should go here)

Main Image

The main Image is the image in the character infobox. It should be a full-body render of the character, or, if such a render is not available, a clear full-body image of the character.

Notability and Relevance

It is not necessary for a character page to contain every section listed above. However, each section should contain at least a paragraph of information, or a bulleted list with three or more pieces of information. Information should also not be repeated unnecessarily and should be written under the relevant section (e.g. descriptions of a character's outfit should be written under Appearance, not Trivia).

TV Episode Article Editing

Articles about episodes in TV shows should be ordered in the following manner:

  • Synopsis
  • Plot
  • Trivia
  • Quotes

Main Image

The main Image is the image in the episode infobox. It should be the title screen of the episode.

Notability and Relevance

The Plot section should be the longest section of the page, containing information about characters, inventions, and major events. Information in the Trivia section should only be notable pieces of information such as the first appearance of a character, relevance to other pieces of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs media (such as cameos or Easter Eggs), or plot holes.

Images

Uploading images

Every image uploaded to the wiki should be placed in an article or gallery. Unused images and files will be deleted.

Images should be of reasonable quality and come from the source wherever possible.

Files should have a file name that makes it easily searchable. Descriptions of images are not required but are highly encouraged. If more than 3 images in a row are added to a page, they should be placed in a gallery.

Ensure that no duplicate of the image being uploaded already exists; if an image already exists and the image uploaded is of better quality, navigate to the image page and replace the image instead. This will preserve links, categories, and file history.

Article Images and Galleries

Images in article pages should be kept to a minimum, with 1 image for every 2-3 paragraphs of text. Article images must not distract from the text and should be resized accordingly. Animated images and video links should not be added to articles but instead should be added to a gallery.

The gallery section should always be at the bottom of the page, and should not exceed 10 images. If a gallery exceeds 10 images, a gallery page should be created with sufficiently organized sections.

Gallery Pages

Gallery pages should be organized into sections and subsections such that each gallery contains no more than 20 images. Images contained in these galleries should also be included on other pages in the wiki; if the gallery is the only place the image appears, the image should have a caption explaining its purpose.

Linking

Links to any article should only appear once per article. If it is seen once, it should not appear again. Links should not have any sort of emphasis.

Redirects

Links should point directly to articles, and not to redirect pages. Redirect pages are only to be used for search optimization.

Templates

User pages should not have templates that automatically add categories to them, or templates that should normally be on articles. They will be removed when found.

Deletion

If someone places a deletion tag, it is a signal for discussion. If no one attempts to justify the page's existence within 48 hours, the page may be deleted. The page may be restored, but not without discussion.
