After the release of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, there a small but devoted fandom sprouted from across the Internet.

Flint Lockwood's Lab

The premier website for any fan of the franchise was the Proboards forum Flint Lockwood's Lab. Created in October 2009 and run by user argionember (AKA Cody the Maverick), the forum had over 250 members and over 30,000 posts across 1,500 threads. Fans would share theories and fan art and speculate and share information about the video game and eventual sequel.

DeviantArt

The CWACOM Club on DeviantArt was started in November 2009 by Bluedragon155. Users shared fan art, fanfiction, and other fan-created works related to Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. Many administrators and prominent members of the DeviantArt club were also administrators and prominent members of the Flint Lockwood's Lab Proboard forum.

Fanpop

Fanpop is a website primarily dedicated to sharing images and video. Users would post screen captures, or "screencaps", from their favorite movies and media to share with other users.

Controversies

In December 2020, YouTube commentator AniMat posted an extremely negative review of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. Referring to the film as a "Cancer of Animation," he confidently claimed that "the character design looks like it was entirely done by a brain-damaged chimpanzee" and that the film perpetuates the stereotype of animation being a genre exclusively aimed towards children. Multiple videos expressing the same extreme, negative sentiments cemented AniMat's reputation as unnecessarily critical of Cloudy and its sequel (as well as Sony Pictures Animation films as a whole).
