I mean yes it is technically just a machine, and therefore cannot feel pain, but that doesn’t mean It can’t think for itself. After all at the end of the first movie and throughout the second movie, it appears to have a train of thought, and it even gained an eye. When Flint Lockwood is about to plug the BSUSB into it, it gives him a look that says “please don’t do this, you don’t understand what’s going on here”. And to emphasize that it immediately craps out a baby marshmallow.

And even in an earlier version of the end of the first movie it was supposed to fall into the sea and become a giant monster (which looks identical to Bob from monsters versus aliens?)

So yeah, I think the fldsmdfr is technically a self-aware mechanical being. just like wall-e, XJ9 (A.K.A. Jenny), C-3PO and R2-D2, BB-8, the bat computer, and many many more that I can think of. What are your personal thoughts?
